Short answer

Can I find out online whether HIFU is right for me?

No — no online tool can tell you whether you are a candidate for HIFU treatment of uterine fibroids, and this page does not attempt to. Eligibility is determined by a physician who reviews your MRI and clinical history. What this assessment process does is help you submit that information in an organised way.

Why is the assessment personal?

Two fibroids of the same size can behave completely differently depending on their location, tissue characteristics and your symptoms. The technical feasibility of focused ultrasound depends on exactly these details — which is why eligibility can only be judged from your own imaging.

What does the physician review consider?

  • Your MRI (location, number and tissue characteristics of the fibroids)
  • Your symptoms and how long you have had them
  • Previous treatments
  • Your pregnancy plans and priorities
  • Your general health

If you would like to understand how these factors influence the decision, our candidacy page explains them in detail.

How will the process work?
